Four unanswered goals during the final two periods enabled the Campbellford Rebels to defeat the Port Hope Panthers 4-2 in an Empire junior C hockey game at the Jack Burger Sports Complex on Saturday night.
Seamus McDougall and Justin Crowley, with two goals apiece, scored for Campbellford which won for the first time in five games against Port Hope this season.
Port Hope jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period when Brad Heykoop, on a power play, and Jesse Sheppard scored. The Panthers' power play wound up 1-for-7 on the evening.
McDougall scored twice for Campbellford in the second. One of the goals was scored on a power play.
The Rebels were 2-for-9 with the man-advantage in the victory.
Crowley registered the other power play goal near the five-minute mark of the third; a goal that ultimately stood up as the game-winner. Crowley added an insurance marker about 11 minutes later to round out the scoring.
Port Hope goaltender Jon Hull, who had stopped 20 of the 22 shots he faced, was ejected late in the second period. Hull had received a roughing after the whistle minor before eventually receiving an additional physical abuse of the official match penalty.
Affiliated player Stu Irvine replaced Hull and stopped seven of the nine shots fired his way, but was tagged with the loss.
