PORT HOPE — There are big games in Empire junior C hockey action this weekend.
As of Wednesday, the fifth-place Campbellford Rebels (17-6-3) were only two points behind the fourth-place Picton Pirates (19-16-1) for the final playoff spot.
Picton, though, was scheduled to play the winless Frontenac Flyers (0-37-0) on Thursday night with the chance to move four points ahead of the Rebels.
Campbellford will still have a game in hand, which will be played Friday night at home against the second-place Amherstview Jets (24-10-1), who they have a win and a loss against in their past two games. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday at 6:30 p.m., Campbellford is in Port Hope to play the third-place Panthers (22-10-4), which are currently only a point behind Amherstview.
Next week is the final week of the regular season.
Last Saturday's game between the Panthers and Pirates at the Jack Burger Sports Complex in Port Hope raised more than $1,600 for The Red Cross Haiti 2010 Earthquake Relief Fund.
